Policies help you take complete control over the type of content that is allowed on your network. One of the most important uses of policies is in blocking threats like Malware, Phishing, and Botnets.
Policies also allow organizations to censor content on their networks. You can block different categories of content like Drugs, Streaming Services, and Adult content.
To create a Policy on your dashboard, follow the following steps:
- Go to Policies > Filtering
- Click the Add button
- Enter a name for your policy (this can be any name that describes the purpose of the policy) and click the Create button.
- Configure the policy on the following tabs
- Categories: This allows you to block categories of unwanted content on your network e.g. Adult Content, Drugs, P2P & Illegal, etc.
- Threats: helps protect you against common cyber security threats like Botnets, Malware, Phishing, etc.
- SafeSearch: enables you to moderate content on search engines like Google, Bing, etc.
- Allow list and Block list: allows you to type in specific domains or upload a CSV file of domains to either allow or block
- Advanced: This allows you to perform advanced functions like setting alternate DNS servers for some of the machines on your network.
- Please note that any configuration you make on your policy settings are automatically saved
- Once you’re done with your policy set up, head over to Deployments > Sites.
- On the site you wish to add the new policy to, click on the Policy/Schedule column and select your policy from the dropdown.
- Your selection will be automatically saved and your policy will be in effect on the site you have attached it to
- Do note that policies might take up to 15minutes to take full effect across all nodes on your network; however, most times they take effect immediately.
